I have several new followers to my blog! Welcome and you know who you are.
It has been a bit since my last post….sorry. Busy with many things, aren’t we all? For our quilt guild made several project packets and they seemed to go well. They are a lot of work. Hopefully resupplying them will be easy. It is great for snowbirds to grab and go have have all the supplies. This Thursday we will install new officers, including me for fundraising. Having a board meeting on Friday but we are planning a spring purse show with tea and sweets. Members will be asked to make a purse and be part of the show. We decided on this instead of a garage sale or quilt show this year. Something a bit different and something our community will enjoy and support.
The mystery quilt has been revealed to all and members will show off their accomplished quilt flimsy although some will probably have it quilted and complete. We had a free motion class this year and I am going to challenge the group to try it our on their top as they are not too big and would be perfect to practice on with all the free space in the quilt. I had some blocks from class direction and some of the bonus blocks and made them into table toppers. Today I finished one and while not perfect I was pleased with this accomplishment.
It is difficult to see quilting but I did some circles and some basic flower design in corners and some wobbly lines. The other two I need to get the binding on them. Should have them done by Thursday.
As I am winding down getting ready to return to Wisconsin I am try to finish some projects down here mostly machine quilting. I have a table runner and two smaller children’s quilts. I think I can get at least one of the quilts done. Yes I have several things I am taking back mostly some scraps for some unknown project.
Some of you may know my daughter Abi is currently at Parris Island boot camp for the Marines. This is week 8 of 13. In two weeks she will be doing her final test the crucible. Graduation is May 4 and we will see her the day before for a few hours. So a quick trip to South Carolina before our west coast trip going back home. Abi did have pneumonia that had her on light duty for about a week, luckily it was during a slow part of training. Past two weeks was learning to shoot her gun which she loved and apparently did pretty good. She has warier training this week. We have been writing almost every day. Her spirits are good and reading the Bible to keep spirits up. 🙂 so baring any unforeseen issues she will graduate and have a 10 day leave before her next steps.
Arizona is warming up, today near 90 with some breezes. Glad we are missing the snow back home as are daughters are updating us.
Happy Quilting to All!
