A little closer to closing

(This is a real early picture, bushes are much bigger…as is the birch tree) We face north.

We traveled up to our condo for our walk thru prior to closing. They cleaned it up from all the construction stuff. So checked everything out. Ran the water, ran the dishwasher, tried out the washing machine and dryer. Dryer needs the connecting tube to the outdoors. I did notice that the garbage disposal is not attached to electric and does not work. While on the ground looking at it we also found a heating vent not covered in kitchen. Otherwise we should be good to go. They planted some beautiful scrubs in back with blue-black fruit and looks like they will redden in fall. We just need to keep them watered. Nice small view of lake and even went to the pool with its warm water. Clubhouse could also be used for quilting. Maybe I will start up a quilting quilt??? This afternoon went to pick up my prescription drugs and decided to get window coverings. I did the measurements today. Would like honeycomb cellular shades. Living room I want the ones that go up and down on top and bottom. I ordered some sample colors. Would like to mount inside, but we do have the crank Windows that might interfere, but  I do love the wood trim around the windows. Can wait with that decision. I got two panels of grommet drapes for the patio along with rod. Also picked up some gray, but seem to have a slight blue tint for our bedroom..darkening drapes. Also got some darkening temporary paper shades for the bedroom. So should be set for sleep those first few nights. So tomorrow will be a cleaning day along with final packing of things not needed. Buyers will do their walk thru around 5pm. We will go out to eat and church.  Such a beautiful day…to bad we have not moved already. But soon….

Thanks for dropping by…

It has been a bit.

Sure enjoying cooler weather today! We have designated this day as a day of rest and relaxation. So watching some olympics and doing my 365 block. Yes today I decided to pack up the sewing machine. I got my some of my summer solstice blocks finished just have to put them together. Decided that that can wait until after the move. I just have a few pieces of material and things to cut out my blocks at least for a few more days. The rest is packed. I also will need to roll up the Allietarecherith quilt, but like looking at it and trying to decide how I will quilt it.

This is the last weekend I our home. Yesterday we had family over for last time. Daughter #3 nabbed the larger TV for college and Packer games. We have sold a few more things. Tomorrow will be a funeral for my brother-in-law, father passed away and is pain free in heaven. Tuesday is our walk thru at condo. Plan on taking some breakable thing up and storing in garage. Wednesday is moving things to garage and buyers have their walk thru. Thursday evening will be loading the truck and closing Friday at 9 am. Our condo closing is at 1:30 pm, so hoping to start unpacking by 3pm. Hoping all will go as planned.

Will be nice to get everything moved, unloaded and a new place. Back to a normal routine.

Happy Quilting…successful closings and a new abode.

Packing and a little quilting

We have begun the real packing. My first thought…not all going to fit. I am right. While we are downsizing, we do have a two car garage with one car. We are also storing some things for two daughter. So it looks like a Uhal will be ordered. We do a little each day. It also is very warm and humid. Making great progress. House is getting more empty. About two weeks til closing. We will close here then travel about an hour north and close at 3pm about 30 minutes away from condo. Only problem is our cat whiskers. Not a traveling cat. Last time was 10 yrs ago when we moved here. 30 minute ride and he threw up. Will have to stop at condo, let him out outside for a bit and travel to our closing.

My dad also had a set back and went to ER two days ago and diagnosed with pulmonary embolism. He is doing well and was a clot in lower right lung. So learning about Warfarin and new experiences with RN’s. May go home tomorrow or the weekend. This was going to be the weekend we were all coming home for Mom’s 80th birthday. Good thing we cancelled that last week. I might go up next week sometime.

All caught up on my 365 blocks. Today as I got the basement cleaned up I laid out my daughters quilt Allietarecherith. Will begin to pin it in the next few days. Wanted to do this before our move as I have room. No basement in the condo. I just love this quilt. Next step will be the quilt design as I will be hand quilting it. I am going to use a verigated red work thread. Hope to start quilting in September. Goal to finishe for her graduation from nursing school in May. Backing is also cool with some flannel and scraps. I do plan on doing a scalloped border/binding. This is last years mystery from Bonnie Hunter.

Happy Quilting and watching the Olympics!

Week checkin

  • Waterloo house
  • Dad’s surgery
  • Cold bug
  • Nephew’s wedding

The selling process of the home continues. As the roof condition as a major concern we had an independent contractor and roofer option. While the shingles show some advanced premature wear, they should be good for another 5-10 yrs. The window leak was not visible or a concern for the contractor. So we pushed ahead sending the buyers the update with an updated addendum from us. Awaiting their response. We had the septic and well inspected and tested. Awaiting the water results. Small part on well and changing the facet on the tank to prevent back flow will be done this week. We have ordered the pod to start moving thing into it. It will come Monday. So things seem to be moving ahead. Selling a lot of our extra stuff and that is going well,
My dad had a right carotid endarterectomy this past Wednesday. Spent the past few days there at their home. I was the designated driver and was a good thing because we got lost a few times basically due to construction. Everything went well, spend evening in ICU due to blood pressure monitoring. He had excellent care, and that is a complement from me as I know the things that need to be done. Today his only complaint is some pain behind left knee. It is probably from being in bed and maybe electrolytes are off. So using heat and rub to relax it. He has no surgical pain.

Daughter have caught a cold bug, so hopping we don’t get it.

This afternoon we are attending the wedding of our nephew Josh and Amanda. So a little family time on a beautiful summer day!

Not much quilting…did one 3 in block for the 365 challenge. Could not do much sewing as parents have a puppy that loves to play fetch..all the time.

So next week the process of serious packing starts. Will miss this house but looking forward to our condo. It will be closer to my parents which is good.

Have a great day!
